Changing the Dock -
Jan 2010
I know this may be very basic, but I seem to be asked this question quite a bit. "How do I add/remove an icon in the dock?" It is very easy. To remove an icon for a file, folder, or application, just click and hold down the mouse button and drag it off of the dock. When it is off of the dock, release the mouse button. It will vanish in a neat little cloud without deleting or removing the original data or application from the harddrive. To add an icon for something to the dock, it is much the same, but in reverse order. Find the item you want to add to the dock in the Finder. Click and drag it to the dock, then release the button. It will then stay in the dock whether it is open or not. There is a second way to add an item to the dock. Go ahead and open up the application you want to add to the dock. While it is open, right click (or control click) on the icon and choose "Keep in dock".
